Daily Drumpf: READ THE CONSTITUTION!

It's more than Donald Trump has ever done.

This will be part of an ongoing program to provide daily action items on how to counter Republican Trump and restore respect to America again until Republican Trump leaves office. Thus, the current plan is to share 729 action items over the next 729 days, or longer if necessary.

The first action of any American is to read the country's founding documents. The best resource for this that I've found is the National Archives:

As specified in Article II, Section I, of the Constitution, the president takes this oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

It is the duty of every citizen to hold the president and all other Constitutionally elected and appointed government officials to their oath. If you are not familiar with the words of the Constitution, and understand what it means, how can you know when the president or others have violated its terms?

This is job #1 for any citizen who has not read these documents to do so fully TODAY, and for those who have read it before, to re-read them fully TODAY. The total amount of time required to do so is only about the same time it takes to watch a couple of evening sit-coms, so there is no excuse for not making this basic effort as an American citizen.

Last year I compared Trump to Tony Clifton. Clearly, I owe Tony Clifton an apology.

Georgia Republicans are struggling to defend President-elect Donald Trump’s Twitter attacks on Rep. John Lewis and his Atlanta-based congressional district, which he said was in “horrible shape.” 

Trump called the Atlanta district that Lewis represents a “crime infested” area that is “falling apart,” a day after the Democrat told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he will skip Trump’s inauguration next week because he doesn’t see him as a “legitimate president.”

State Sen. Josh McKoon said Trump was justified for being upset at Lewis – though he did not defend Republican’s assault on the district – saying that Lewis’ decision to boycott the inauguration was “petty and dangerous.”...

Leo Smith, the director of the Georgia GOP’s minority engagement, said in a tweet he was ignoring media requests asking about Lewis.

“His record as an honorable hero in the 60s and 70s is revered. No need to beat him up,” he wrote in a tweet ending with a Trump slogan.

Other Republican leaders, including Gov. Nathan Deal and U.S. Sens. Johnny Isakson and David Perdue, declined to comment or did not immediately return messages. Ditto for several GOP legislators who represent parts of Lewis’ district.

State Rep. Allen Peake, a Macon Republican who is also a potential contender for higher office, offered a blanket statement that might reflect the mood of many Georgia GOPers.

“I’m not sure I would take on a civil rights icon and hero,” he said, “but Donald Trump hasn’t asked me for my advice – and he doesn’t need my advice.”

The amount of right wing & GOP bullshit out there is not on the level of stepping on the occasional cow patty in an open field, it’s more on the level of… well, it feels a bit like being Dith Pran, falling into and wading through a massive pit of human remains.

The best of this bit is probably the “infamous Corporate Act of 1871” where it seems the author is assuming that when Congress incorporated the District of Columbia for the country’s capital in 1871, taking the word “corporate” to mean that Congress turned the USA into a company...

The Act of 1871 formed a corporation called THE UNITED STATES. The corporation, OWNED by foreign interests, moved in and shoved the original Constitution into a dustbin.

…not understanding (or maybe even not reading) the points made in the original legislative document stating the act was for “...a body corporate for municipal purposes…” as noted throughout the document.

He falsely attributes a statement to Thomas Jefferson:

That’s outright bullshit and I knew that as soon as I read it. Anyone having read anything about Jefferson and the other founding fathers knows that Jefferson was pushing for a form of government that was more democratic and less republican in nature. Jefferson's position was that of putting more power directly into the individuals' hands, so the statement did not ring true to me. So here you have someone who is taking radical actions, making possibly treasonous statements (and certainly statements that would warrant a court-marshal, as he himself states), based upon his false interpretation of the founding fathers’ statements. Who knows how screwed-up his interpretation of the Constitution is? Yet he is willing to call for armed insurrection based on the scrambled bullshit sloshing around in his skull. He also states, “Let me assure you, there IS a resistance in the US military… we will die fighting our brothers in arms if we must…” 

Last month I started watching the A&E Leah Remini exposé on the Scientology cult. I see a lot of similarities between the GOP and Scientology, at least insofar as people getting suckered into believing the most ludicrous of things under the guise of bettering themselves and bettering the planet - working for something critical and big. The GOP looks for all the world to be a cult to me. How else do you describe a group who preys on the weak minded to enrich themselves while convincing its minions to suspend rational thought in order to believe in, and live in, a fantasy?

How useful were the idiots who voted for Trump? Putin says “Большое спасибо!”, as noted in the Jan 7, Wall Street Journal:

WASHINGTON—The U.S. intelligence community said in a report Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a campaign to influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and that Mr. Putin aspired to help Donald Trump to victory as part of a broader ambition to undermine Western liberalism… and that the Kremlin “developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump,” adding the intelligence agencies have high confidence in their judgments.

Russian media counted Mr. Trump’s election upset in November as a win for the Kremlin, the intelligence agencies concluded. “Russian media hailed President-elect Trump’s victory as a vindication of Putin’s advocacy of global populist movements. and the latest example of Western liberalism’s collapse.”

Mr. Trump was clearly Moscow’s preferred candidate, the report found, but as Election Day neared, the Kremlin concluded he would probably lose.

That is when the Russians changed their strategy and “focused more on undercutting Secretary Clinton’s legitimacy and crippling her presidency from its start, including by impugning the fairness of the election,” the report found.
