WASHINGTON—The U.S. intelligence community said in a report Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a campaign to influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and that Mr. Putin aspired to help Donald Trump to victory as part of a broader ambition to undermine Western liberalism… and that the Kremlin “developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump,” adding the intelligence agencies have high confidence in their judgments.
Russian media counted Mr. Trump’s election upset in November as a win for the Kremlin, the intelligence agencies concluded. “Russian media hailed President-elect Trump’s victory as a vindication of Putin’s advocacy of global populist movements. and the latest example of Western liberalism’s collapse.”
Mr. Trump was clearly Moscow’s preferred candidate, the report found, but as Election Day neared, the Kremlin concluded he would probably lose.
That is when the Russians changed their strategy and “focused more on undercutting Secretary Clinton’s legitimacy and crippling her presidency from its start, including by impugning the fairness of the election,” the report found.
Through their historical ignorance, intellectual laziness, and flat out gullibility, Trump voters have allowed themselves to be duped by a hostile foreign power to commit such an anti-American act that if Ronald Reagan were to come back to see them in real life, he’d throw up in face of each and every one of them. In world of Christian mythology, one can imagine Reagan as St. Peter’s assistant, saying “Nope! Not that one. That’s another who voted for the puppet of Putin’s Evil Empire. Send that one to the same place you sent Stalin.”
